Tours

Edwin wants to take us for a tour of the area so we will buy a winter home in AZ.
He took us through some very depressed areas. But houses are cheap. We go through all of the towns and then back threw again. Edwin says, "We have to see both sides of the buildings".
He says he will sell his house to us and they will full time RV.
NOT!!!

Edwin's house

We made it to Edwin's and Doris spoiled us with 2 feasts a day.
We watched about the Tucson shootings on TV. Thank heavens for FOX News. Flags are at half mast.
We went to Doris's grandkids basketball games. 3 games in a row. The girls played in the middle and they are rough.
We rode the buggy up to the cross on the hill while Edwin had a procedure at the hospital and then we went out on the dirt road for quite a ways. It was cold when we traveled but sunny and warm when we stopped.

Globe

Mass shootings in Tucson.
We stayed the night in the Walmart parking lot. We had just eaten dinner and there was a knock at the door. A man wanted to sell us his chain saw because he needed money. Lock the doors!!

Hollbrook AZ

Fixed the tire. $15 for labor. Dad said I used to do it for $1.50 in the 70's.

Cottonwood campground

We were the only ones in the campground and there was one water spigot.
People came one right after another to get water in 9-10 open buckets or barrels or whatever would carry water. They came until clear after dark.
In the AM we were ready to tour the park and we had a flat tire on the trailer.
It was a good thing it happened there because the road on the reservation had no shoulders.

Chinle AZ

Horses run free in town. You have to wait to pull in to the gas station for the horse to move.
They are selling hay by the bale off of a big flat bed trailer and the horses are headed for it. Horses block the hamburger shop line too.
You see pickups with just a few bales. They must only buy as they can afford hay.
We were there on a Friday and it must have been pay day.
These people don't really shop in stores they have a roadside stand with a sign and people stop to buy their wares.
We went to the grocery store and pellets for pellet stoves were $5.39 a bag. Ouch!
They are selling coal out of a pickup in the grocery store parking lot.
We watched the transactions of hay sales off the flat bed trailer. They even sweep up the loose hay into garbage sacks and sell that too.

Navajo Nation

Canyon de Chelly Cottonwood Campground is free for up to 5 days. What's wrong with Hite?
They are both Federal dry camps.
